Artist: Guy Jones Art
Guy Jones, a native of Baltimore City, graduated from Baltimore City College High School and earned a BS degree from Morgan State College. He then earned an MFA from The Maryland Institute College of Art as the first African American to graduate from the Hoffberger School of Painting. Mr. Jones accepted a scholarship to attend the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine. While currently teaching art at Morgan State University, Guy Jones studies painting at The Schuler Atelier. He has painted as a muralist for Baltimore's Advisory Committee on Art and Culture, was gallery coordinator of Eubie Blake Gallery 409, and an artist for the Fish Out of Water Project. His work has been exhibited at the Prettyman Studio Gallery, Brown University, Pace University, the Reston Black Art Festival, the James E. Lewis Museum of Art, the Frederick Douglass Isaac Myers Maritime Park and Museum, and the Baltimore Museum of Art, to name a few.
